The Lamp Of Thoth Review on Portents, Omens & Doom album

Being part of the United Kingdom’s doom metal forces and hailing within the Miskatonic Foundation, The Lamp Of Thoth’s last full length album “Portents, Omens & Doom” is here to invade all the weak.

With nicknames like The Overtly Melancholic Lord Strange, Randy Reaper and Lady Pentagram, The Lamp Of Thoth perform a powerful and ominous traditional doom metal straight from the deepest void of hell. The inquisition starts with the magnificent “I Love The Lamp” and finishes with the heavy opus “Satan’s Hammer”, describing by this way the ruthless tradition and heritage of doom metal. Combining slow gloomy riffs and mid-tempo gateways with the raw nihilistic vocals and pure but also obscure drumming, The Lamp Of Thoth are here to destroy any signs of tranquility and begin the holocaust. Songs like “You Will Obey”, “Pagan Daze”, “Wings Of Doom” and “Blood On Satan’s Claw” are ready to mourn instead of the lament and teach about how skull crushing true traditional doom metal should be played nowadays. Absolute heaviness influenced by Satan and Doom, this cult trio from Keighley are honored by the oath in which they have been dedicated: Black Sabbath. Just imagine yourself being during a cold and misty morning in a graveyard while next to you a dragon tries to destroy you by spitting flames around you. This is The Lamp Of Thoth and if you dig the doom you’d better check this album now, otherwise the beast of doom will be set out free and be sure, it is sent to desecrate your soul. Believe me!
